Pick a mode, then a formation: three of ten are offered, from a 4-3-3 to the diamond. Then you are offered three random Premier League players at a time. Choose one for your XI without seeing their goals. You have 20 seconds to pick, or the first option goes in. Repeat until every spot in your formation is filled, from left back to striker (there is no keeper). Your total is revealed as you go.

650+: reach 650 goals or more, with one of each wildcard. Exactly 650: land on 650 on the dot, under or over is a miss, and it’s Hard Mode: no free wildcards, only paid ones, one of each a game. Team Spin: choose a position, then spin a club and season and pick from that squad. Daily Challenge: a new themed draft every day, the same theme for everyone.

Now and then in 650+, one offer is a Legends Pick: three of the Premier League’s retired greats with 120 or more Premier League goals, like Wayne Rooney, Thierry Henry and Frank Lampard. Their goals are hidden like everyone else’s, and they count their whole Premier League careers. You get one at most per game, and it can turn up late in a game, just when you need it most.

No. You can play as a guest, and your games stay on this device. A free CAST Profile (Google or Apple, for ages 13 and over) saves your history, stats and trophies across every CAST game, puts you on the leaderboards and gives you wildcards every game.

After each game we compare the goals on every card you were offered with what an average game deals you. Luck +23% means you drew 23% more goals than usual; a minus number means a tough draw. Your first offer and any Legends Pick are left out. You see it on your results and on leaderboard team sheets.

Reroll (Respin in Team Spin) gives you a fresh offer, Reveal Goals shows the goals for everyone on the current offer, and Remove Player takes one player out of your XI so you can draft again. Each can be used once per game. With a CAST Profile you also get Substitute, the Legend Key and The GOAT.

Goals in Premier League matches only, from its first season in 1992-93 to now. Goals in the old First Division, the Championship, the FA Cup, the League Cup, Europe or for a country are not included. The pool is every outfield player who has played a Premier League game (keepers are left out, as there is no keeper in your XI).

From the Premier League’s own career records, checked against Wikipedia. Positions are each player’s real ones, and a player who played in more than one line (a winger who also led the line) can fill either.
