Frequently Asked Questions

What is 1000TRIES?

A free Rugby League game by The Cast Patrol. Draft a starting 13 of NRL players with their NRL tries hidden, then add them up. Can your 13 reach 1000 tries combined?

How do you play 1000TRIES?

Pick a mode, then you are offered three random NRL players at a time. Choose one for your 13 without seeing their tries. You have 20 seconds to pick, or the first option goes in. Repeat until every spot from fullback to lock is filled. Your total is revealed as you go.

What are the modes?

1000+: reach 1000 tries or more, with one of each wildcard. Team Spin: choose a position, then spin a club and season and pick from that squad. NRLW 250+: draft from every NRLW player and reach 250 NRLW tries or more.

What are Legends and Immortals?

Now and then in 1000+, one offer is a Legends Pick: three greats of the game, most from before the NRL era. Rarer still is the Immortal Pick: three of Rugby League’s Immortals. Their tries are hidden like everyone else’s, and they count their whole premiership careers. You get one at most per game, and it can turn up late in a game, just when you need it most.

What does the Luck number mean?

After each game we compare the tries on every card you were offered with what an average game deals you. Luck +23% means you drew 23% more tries than usual; a minus number means a tough draw. Your first offer and any Legends or Immortal Pick are left out. You see it on your results and on leaderboard team sheets.

What are wildcards?

Reroll (Respin in Team Spin) gives you a fresh offer, Reveal Tries shows the tries for everyone on the current offer, and Remove Player takes one player out of your 13 so you can draft again. Each can be used once per game.

What is the GOAT?

Alex Johnston, the top tryscorer in NRL history with 240 NRL tries. Buy the GOAT in the Shop ($9.99, players 15 and over) and it waits in your Vault. In a 1000+ game, tap The GOAT beside your wildcards and your next offer becomes him. Once a game, not in the Daily Challenge or a friend’s challenge, and that game shows a boost mark on the leaderboards. The same GOAT works in every CAST draft game, bringing that game’s own GOAT.

Which tries count?

NRL premiership tries from 1998 to now. The 1997 Super League and ARL seasons are not included, and neither are Origin, Tests or other representative games. Legends and Immortals in 1000+ count their whole premiership careers. In NRLW 250+, NRLW premiership tries from 2018 to now count, including finals.

Where do the try numbers come from?

They are compiled by The Cast Patrol from publicly available records, with NRLW numbers from Rugby League Project checked against official club pages. Spot something that looks wrong? Let us know and we’ll check it.

How do I contact you or report a bug?

Use the form: pick what it’s about, tell us what happened and we’ll reply by email. Every message gets a reference number, so nothing gets lost.

Is 1000TRIES free to play?

Completely free. No download needed. Open your browser, draft your 13 and play.

Who made 1000TRIES?

The Cast Patrol, the team behind CAST Games.

Is 1000TRIES affiliated with the NRL?

No. 1000TRIES is an independent, fan-made game. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with the NRL or any NRL club.
