Frequently Asked Questions

What is G1 WINNER SPINNER?

A free horse racing game by The Cast Patrol. Draft 8 jockeys with their Group 1 wins hidden, then add them up. Can your card reach 550 Group 1 wins combined?

How do you play G1 WINNER SPINNER?

Pick a mode, then you are offered three random jockeys at a time. Choose one without seeing their wins. You have 20 seconds to pick, or the first option goes in. Repeat until all 8 races on your Group 1 card are filled. Any jockey can ride any race. Your total is revealed as you go.

What are the modes?

550+: reach 550 Group 1 wins or more, with one of each wildcard. Exactly 550: land on 550 on the dot, under or over is a miss, and it’s Hard Mode: no free wildcards, only paid ones, one of each a game. HIGHER OR LOWER: RACING: call Higher or Lower against the clock.

What are Legends?

Now and then in 550+, one offer is a Legends Pick: three great retired jockeys, like Damien Oliver, Shane Dye and Glen Boss. Their wins are hidden like everyone else’s, and they count their Group 1 wins since 1983 too. You get one at most per game, and it can turn up late in a game, just when you need it most.

What does the Luck number mean?

After each game we compare the wins on every card you were offered with what an average game deals you. Luck +23% means you drew 23% more wins than usual; a minus number means a tough draw. Your first offer and any Legends Pick are left out. You see it on your results and on leaderboard team sheets.

What are wildcards?

Reroll gives you a fresh offer, Reveal Wins shows the wins for everyone on the current offer, and Remove Jockey takes one jockey off your card so you can draft that race again. Each can be used once per game.

Which wins count?

Group 1 flat races in Australia and New Zealand from 1 January 1983 to now, as graded at the time of each running. Wins overseas (Hong Kong, Japan, Europe), jumps races and wins before 1983 are not included. A dead heat counts as a win for both jockeys. The game includes every jockey with 3 or more Group 1 wins since 1983.

Where do the numbers come from?

Group 1 results from breednet.com.au and Wikipedia (CC BY-SA), checked race by race against each other. A few jockeys from the 1980s appear by their initials, as the records show them. Spot something that looks wrong? Let us know and we’ll check it.

How do I contact you or report a bug?

Use the form: pick what it’s about, tell us what happened and we’ll reply by email. Every message gets a reference number, so nothing gets lost.

Is G1 WINNER SPINNER free to play?
