How It Works
Spin, draft your NRL era 13, then win all 27 games of the season.
The Idea
Spin a random NRL club and season, pick one player from that squad, and repeat until your 13 is full. Then your team plays a full season: 24 regular-season games and the finals. Win every one, Grand Final included, and you go 27-0.
The Team
You fill a standard starting 13: FB, W, C, C, W, FE, HB, P, HK, P, SR, SR, LK. Players can go into any position they are listed for, so a centre who also played wing can fill either spot. Tap an empty spot on the field and the squad shows who can play there.
The Modes
| Mode | How you draft | Ratings | Wildcards |
|---|---|---|---|
| Classic | Spin a club and season, pick 1 player from that squad | Shown | 1 of each with a free CAST Profile, 2 of each with CAST Pass |
| Hard | Classic spins | Hidden until your 13 is full | Paid only, one of each |
| Pack | Rip open 7 packs of 6 cards, then pick your best 13 from what you pull | Shown | Superstar Keys only |
| Daily Challenge | Today’s theme, the same for everyone | Hidden in the squad list | 1 of each for everyone |
| World Cup 8-0 | Spin a nation, pick 1 player from its 2026 World Cup squad | Shown | As in Classic, without the Superstar Key |
Pack cards come in five rarities: Gold, Green, Blue, Silver and Bronze. Hard Mode and the Daily Challenge have their own leaderboards, so pure footy knowledge gets its own ranking.
The Daily Challenge
A new challenge drops every day at midnight, Sydney time, the same for everyone. It could be a Match Day between the two clubs playing that day, one club across the whole NRL era, the same spins for all, or a squad rating to hit. You get 3 goes and your best one counts on the Daily leaderboard.
World Cup 8-0
The 2026 Rugby League World Cup, with your team in France’s place in Pool C. Spin a nation and pick from its 2026 squad until your 13 is full, then take the long road: Samoa, PNG, England, Tonga and Lebanon in the pool, then a quarter final, a semi and the final. Win all eight to go 8-0. World Legends, the game’s international greats, can turn up in a nation’s spin. One free World Cup a day without signing up, and as many as you like with a free CAST Profile.
Wildcards
- Reroll: bin the current spin and get a fresh club and season.
- Reveal Ratings: show the ratings on the current squad when they are hidden.
- Remove Player: take one player out of your 13 and draft that spot again. If your 13 is full, you can still use it before you lock in.
- Superstar Key: your next spin has a player rated 95 or more (Classic and Pack).
Wildcards come with a free CAST Profile. Guests see them locked until they sign in. CAST Pass adds a second of each, a Superstar Key every day, Substitute (move a player already in your 13 into another open spot he can play, once a Classic season) and Custom Seasons (pick your era and hide the ratings in Classic). Hard is Hard Mode: no free wildcards for anyone, CAST Pass included, but you can use one of each a season from your Vault or buy it on the spot.
Run It Back
Just missed out in Classic? A Run It Back runs your finished season back with one loss turned into a win: a lost Grand Final first, otherwise your closest regular-season loss. Once a season. A season run back shows a boost mark on the leaderboards, and a run-back 27-0 still counts as a Perfect Season.
The Rules
- Every player can only be picked once.
- Picks are final, unless you use Remove Player.
- Your team rating comes from the ratings of your 13.
- The season is simulated from your team rating: the stronger your 13, the better your chances every week, but upsets happen, especially in the finals.
- Your best season in every mode goes up on today’s, this week’s and the all-time leaderboards, with Perfect Seasons, the Daily and your longest streak.
Where the Ratings Come From
The player pool covers the whole NRL era, 1998 to now. Every rating is an editorial opinion of The Cast Patrol, built from a formula based on peak performance, era context and career impact. They are debatable. That is the point. They are not official NRL ratings and may differ from any other source.
