How It Works
Three modes. One target: 25000 BBL runs.
The Idea
Draft a Big Bash XI. Every player carries their BBL runs, but you do not see the number until you pick them. Add up your XI and try to reach 25000.
The Team
You fill 11 spots on the ground: 5 batters, an all-rounder, a keeper and 4 bowlers. The All-Rounder spot is only for a player who both bats and bowls (BAT and BOWL on their card), so a pure batter, a pure bowler or a keeper who bats can’t fill it. Players can go into any role they are listed for, so an all-rounder can also fill a batting or a bowling spot, and a keeper who bats can fill either the gloves or a batting spot. If a player fits more than one open spot, you choose where they go.
The Modes
| Mode | How you draft | To win | Wildcards |
|---|---|---|---|
| 25000+ | Roll 3 players, pick 1 | Full XI on 25000 or more | 1 of each |
| Team Spin | Choose a role, then spin a season and club and pick from that squad in that role | Full XI on 25000 or more | 1 of each |
In Team Spin you choose the role first, before the club and season are revealed, so you are locked in. If nobody in that squad fits, you get a free respin.
Wildcards
- Reroll (Respin in Team Spin): bin the current offer and get a fresh one.
- Reveal Runs: show the runs for everyone on the current offer only.
- Remove Player: take one player out of your XI. Their spot reopens and they go back in the pool. If your XI is full but short of the target, you can still use it before you lock in.
Wildcards come with a free CAST Profile: one of each per game, or two of each with CAST Pass. Guests see them locked until they sign in.
Legends
Now and then in 25000+, one offer is a Legends Pick: three of the BBL’s retired greats, like Aaron Finch, Shaun Marsh and Chris Gayle. You get one at most per game, and it can turn up late in a game, just when you need it most.
Legends keep their runs hidden like everyone else, and they count their whole BBL careers. They only appear in 25000+.
The Rules
- Every player can only be picked once.
- Picks are final, unless you use Remove Player.
- You have 20 seconds to pick, or the first option goes in. That’s in 25000+ and the Daily Challenge. The other modes have no clock. The clock waits while the Shop or a pop-up is open.
- Your running total and how far you are from 25000 are always on screen.
- Offers are random, but players with more BBL runs turn up a little more often.
- Your result shows the luck of your draw: how many runs were on offer, against an average game.
- Club colours show the club each player last played for.
- No bonuses, no chemistry, no tricks. Just runs.
Where the Numbers Come From
Runs count Big Bash League matches from 2011/12 to now, finals included. Runs for national sides and in other T20 leagues are not included.
Ball-by-ball data comes from Cricsheet, under the Open Data Commons Attribution License. Every career total is checked against the official records, so the runs on each card are exact. Roles come from where each player batted, their stumpings and how much they bowled, and a player who is both a batter and a bowler is an all-rounder.
